Throw back Thursday: 70s Inspired Watch

"The visions of the '60s and '70's, the 'future seen from the past,' they're extremely cool these days” - André Olovsson, Head of Design at Velox.

One brand that is taking us back in time is Velox, and its duty is to bring back the timeless 70s watch and bring it up to date. Enter, the XC1, a watch of "futuristic simplicity."

So what makes this so 70s like? If you can’t already tell from the appearance, the 1978 Braun DW20 watch designed by Dieter Rams and Dietrich Lubs has a similar look to the new XC1 watch.

The XC1’s function is its appearance: the main point of the watch is a simple LCD that displays the time, and there’s little embellishment to take away from it. A great example of letting go of the past is the XC1’s strap; although its face is steel, the strap is silicone, and can be swapped out for a different color band. The use of silicone also makes it very light for a metal-faced watch; it weighs just short of 1.5 ounces.
