Luxury Watch News: MasterCard and WISeKey Bring Payments to Bulgari and Hublot
In a deal revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) which began today in Barcelona, Spain - MasterCard and Swiss digital security firm, WISeKey, announced a partnership to bring contactless payment to select high end watches: Hublot and Bulgari.
While WISeKey has worked with these brands to power wearable payments for years (using their WIS.WATCH technology), landing an agreement with MasterCard is a huge step forward.
“Working together, WISeKey and MasterCard will open the door to additional e-commerce and marketing opportunities for luxury wearable device and watch manufacturers. The potential for improved communication with customers can lead to increased customer loyalty and repeat business,” said Carlos Moreira, CEO of WISeKey. - via Press Release

Using near-field communication (NFC) technology, WIS.WATCH connects with WISeKey’s smartphone app to sync and secure data services such as financial information between a user’s watch and phone. Now through the MasterCard deal, it will also be usable for making payments without the need for a paired smartphone.
In addition to payments, WIS.WATCH also provides the ability of IoT services such as unlocking doors in connected homes and fitness tracking.
