Baselworld News (Part 2)
Now that the curtain has closed on the World’s Biggest Watch Fair, it’s time to wrap up some of the incredible watches shown at this year’s Baselworld. While watches don’t have seasonal cycles like fashion, trends do emerge.
Here’s what wrist fashion we can expect throughout the rest of 2015:
- New materials - From Rado creating a new plasma ceramic for their Rado HyperChrome and the Rado DiaMaster, to Bremont teaming up with Boeing to bring proprietary titanium alloys to your wrist, it’s clear watchmakers are looking to work with less-common or new materials. Looks like the days of only choosing between gold, steel, and platinum are over.
- Colored dials - Many major brands have unveiled some new blue-dialed creations while smaller brands showcased some sophisticated brown models.
- Classic styling - Brands have developed some genuinely new watches that adhere to the classic aesthetic that was popular years ago. Take for example Zenith’s El Primero Chronograph Classic featuring a slim case, subtle colors, and an open dial.
