Omega’s First 2016 Olympic Watch Made Public

In 2 years, the 2016 Olympic Games commence in Rio de Janeiro, with Swiss watch brand Omega as the official timekeeper for the 27th time. In honor of the Rio games, Omega has disclosed a limited edition, chronograph watch with an in-house, co-axial movement: the Omega Speedmaster Mark II "Rio 2016."
Inspired by a vintage Omega Speedmaster model from 1969, this special edition watch was released at this year's Baselworld:

The sub dials on the Rio 2016 have an Olympics motif, ringed by bronze, yellow gold, and silver to represent the medals awarded to the champion athletes.  The tachymeter scale is printed directly on the sapphire crystal and illuminated from underneath by an aluminum ring filled with Super-LumiNova like standard Omega Speedmaster Mark II watches. However unlike other Omega watches, this timepiece has coated the hands, hour markers, and chronograph sconds in a luminous substance, making it the first Omega watch to allow wearers to read the tachymeter scale in the dark.
The watch's case is water-resistant to 100 meters and has a screw-down caseback stamped with the 2016 Olympic Game logo. This special edition watch will only have 2,016 of its kind made and will retail for $6,300.
