Unique Timepiece Spotlight: Breitling Navitimer GMT Aurora Blue
Originally developed for the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) during the early 1950s, Breitling's Navitimer has built it’s reputation on the high performance and pinpoint accuracy of its watches. The newest piece to the Navitimer collection, the GMT Aurora Blue, maintains the brand's aeronautical history with accents of modern updates.
Originally only sold with a white or panda dial, Aurora Blue is the most colorful version of the GMT yet. With a 48mm stainless steel case, the Aurora Blue features an entirely crown-adjustable dual time zone system, aviation slide rule and Manufacture Breitling Caliber B04, which is entirely visible through the case back.
To adjust the hour hand, the wearer simply pulls out the crown and adjust it hourly in either direction. The minute and date automatically adjust to the newly set time. What makes this piece different from most other modern Navitimers in that it also indicates home time with a red, 24- hour hand, used to distinguish day from night.
According to the official website, there is a limited edition release of only 1,000 Breitling Navitimer GMT Aurora Blue pieces and is priced at $9,290. It is also also available in a red gold and can be customized with a leather, crocodile leather strap, or a steel bracelet.
