Hit the beach - With a variety of options spanning from Brooklyn to Montauk, New York/Long Island's beaches are simply a train ride away. Aside from that, you have your choice of lakes in upstate New York, beach towns along the Jersey Shore, and a variety of seaport Connecticut towns. 

Commuters/Travelers take note: For those traveling out of Grand Central this Labor Day Weekend - there will be 17 extra Friday afternoon trains departing the terminal (and 10 extra departing Penn Station).
