SIHH Welcomes Nine Independent Watchmakers in 2016
There’s been rumors of some changes on the horizon for the 2016 SIHH held January 18th to 22nd. Not only has it been announced that it will unveil a new interior decor at its 26th edition, but it will also welcome nine independent watchmakers in its very first Carré des Horlogers.
This new area will be devoted to the following brands representative of ‘New Watchmaking’: Christophe Claret, De Bethune, H.Moser & Cie, Hautlence, HYT, Kari Voutilainen, Laurent Ferrier, MB&F, and Urwerk. With Ralph Lauren not showing this year - to focus on their US market - the new nine brands will be able to occupy the space Ralph Lauren has left behind.
As you know, SIHH provides extraordinary worldwide media visibility for the brands involved which is a huge focus for the new roster of brands. In an interview with the Swiss publication, Bilan, SIHH states that they have been open to including independent brands in the exhibition since 1998.
