Gold Apple Watch Rumored at $5,000

We heard the announcement in September, the Apple Watch is in production. Yet little known facts have been released about price or launch date - until recently. In a video transcript, Angela Ahrendts (Apple’s senior vice president of retail and online stores) let it slip that the watch is slated to launch in spring 2015.

But so far, Apple has only officially announced that their new Apple Watch will start at $350 - which we assume is the cost for the most ‘basic’ entry-level model. Knowing that there will be an 18K gold watch in the collection, one can only wonder how much that will cost the consumer. Well according to a French Apple blog this week, it’ll run somewhere between $4,000 and $5,000!!

Nothing has been officially released by Apple, but knowing that 18K gold isn’t the cheapest of materials, perhaps it isn’t that far off.

We think TIME magazine says it best:
"If I were to win the lottery tonight and go off and buy a $20,000 gold Rolex, I could probably sell the thing for at least what I paid for it 15 years from now to, I don’t know, finance a house. The Apple Watch, however, is more of a consumer tech product, likely to be subject to the same depreciations in value as aging iPhones and iPads."
