When to Service Your Timepiece

Watches are more than just a purchase, they are an investment. If you’re willing to spend the big bucks on a timepiece, you’ll likely want to make sure it lasts you a lifetime - and longer!

Being on your wrist, watches are subject to everyday wear and tear like dings, contact with rain or perspiration, etc.  Service repairs can add up fast, especially if they fall outside the realm of a manufacturer’s warranty or protection plan. Therefore it’s important to get a full service when it’s due, rather than waiting until you are certain something is wrong with your timepiece.

Unsure if your watch is ready for service? Whether it’s been serviced recently or it has been some time, below are some surefire indicators that you should let the experts at Central Watch take a look:

Moisture in the case - The smallest amount of moisture can begin to corrode parts in a matter of hours. If you see ANY moisture or any condensation inside the crystal or on the dial - bring it to us immediately.

Skipping second hand - It’s not uncommon to see a second hand on a quartz watch skip forward every 2-5 seconds. If this is the case, your battery life is likely coming to an end. Don’t wait for your watch to stop, come by Central Watch for a new battery. Batteries are generally $15+ depending on the watch/services requested.

Rattle inside the case - With the everyday stresses your timepiece goes through, there’s always a chance something can slip out of place. While it may withstand a hard knock, perhaps a gentle jostle at the wrong angle may easily pop on of the moving parts loose. If something feels off when you put your watch on each day, it doesn’t hurt to get an expert opinion.

Going on vacation - Your watch is exposed to all sorts of hazards while traveling: from magnetization from airport security scanners, to water from the pool or beach, even a warmer climate which can lead to a snug fitting bracelet. Ensure your watch is in tip top shape as to avoid future problems.
