Beers to Try For NYC's Beer Week
Calling all sud lovers - New York City Beer Week is here. In addition to countless events happening in all of the boroughs, there are also a handful of beers you’ll find exclusively on tap this week!
Head to your favorite bar after work and try one of the below:
Empire Sweet Fire - Brewed exclusively for NYC Beer Week by the ladies of some of NYC’s most favorited beer bars. This stout is fermented with cocoa nibs and a special blend of chiles that results in a silky, smooth brew with balanced spiciness and sweetness. You can find this beer on tap at the four participating bars: Blind Tiger, Spring Lounge, Taproom 307 and The Gingerman
Sixpoint Hi-Res - Craving hops? That’s where Sixpoint steps in. Hi-Res takes the sharp, piney flavor profile of the brewery’s classic Resin and pushes it to the extreme! Still, its aroma packs enough tropical citrus to keep your palate tantalized. Find it at Pacific Standard’s The Mostly Annual NYCBW Pacific Standard Hootenany on February 27th!
Peekskill Aristocrats - Quite possibly the first sour ale brewed entirely with New York State Ingredients, brewer Jeff O’Neil has raised the bar in showing what can be brewed with New York’s harvest. The beer will be poured TONIGHT at Brewer’s Choice (hurry, tickets still available here » ) and at Fourth Avenue Pub’s “Back to the Future Event” on March 1st.
Rockaway Brewing High Plains Drifter - Finding Rockaway’s delicious seasonal beers can be somewhat difficult outside of the company’s LIC brew house and growler system - but thankfully they map it out for us. The Drifter is a Scottish-style ale offering luscious vanilla-spice sweetness thanks to a bourbon barrel aging process and a great medium-bodied alternative.
There will also be plenty more locally-sourced beers poured at Brewer's Choice tonight - grab some friends or coworkers and purchase tickets before they're gone. What beer are you looking forward to trying?
