We will never forget the tragic events that occurred on this day 11 years ago- the only day time stood still in NYC. Although it is a day of great sadness, it is also a day to bring our nation together and rebuild our strength, by uniting with our fellow members of society in a display of nationalism and great pride in our country.

The National 9/11 Memorial was dedicated in a ceremony for the victims’ families on the 10th anniversary of the attacks, last year.  The following day it became open to the public with advanced passes.  The memorial features our country’s largest man made waterfalls dramatically cascading into two sunken pools that represent the footprints of the two former towers.

2012 marks the 11th anniversary of this tragedy and the City of New York is devoting a large focus to the completion of One World Trade Center.  The new tower was expected to be completed by 2009, but negotiations among economic and real estate interests, along with 19 different state agencies, have slowed progress significantly.  One of the largest controversies in this process was changing the name from the original “Freedom Tower” to “One World Trade Center.”  The new completion date is estimated in 2013, and promises to be the tallest building in New York rising over 1,776 feet in height.

It is safe to say that September 11th will be forever documented and never forgotten by the citizens of New York and the entire country.
