Officials are reporting that New York City Subways have been
hit with the worst disaster in 108 years from Hurricane Sandy. New York City’s
transit system suffered “unprecedented” damage from the underground subway
tunnels to commuter rails and bus garages.
It is still unknown when the city will get all of their transit
systems back up and fully functioning again. Yesterday, the Metropolitan
Transit Authority reported it was still too soon to say how long it would take
to fix all of the problems Hurricane Sandy caused the system.
Metro-North Railroad lost power from 59th street
to Croton-Harmon on the Hudson Line and to New Haven on the New Haven Line. The
LIRR evacuated its West Side Yards and also suffered flooding in one of the
East River Tunnels.
