Tips for Caring for Your Rolex

Rolex watches, known for their elegance and precision, it’s no wonder they are heavily sought after (and carry a high price tag). If you happen to own a Rolex, you’ll want to get the most out of your investment - and to do this, caring for it properly is essential:

Wear Your Rolex Often
You purchased the Rolex, so naturally why wouldn’t you want to show it off? Aside from that, wearing your Rolex regularly helps keep the timepiece in perfect running condition. Rolex’s Perpetual motion movements, for example, are kept running by subtle movements - like that of being worn on your wrist. If not used on a regular basis, lubricants within the watch can harden, causing damage or friction within the movement.

Have it Fitted Properly
If your watch is too lose and flaps around your wrist, your bracelet will not only wear faster but due to the fact that it is a self winding watch it won’t wind/function properly. You should also be sure to keep your bracelet clean! To avoid damaging the watch, use a soft bristled toothbrush to scrub between the links.

Always Keep the Crown Screwed Down
Once you finish setting the time and date, screw the crown down to keep any contaminants (like dust) out of the case. This also prevents any water or cleaning supplies from getting into the watch case and messing up the movement.

Winding Your Rolex
The Rolex’s Perpetual movement means they are self-winding and on average have a power reserve of 48 hours. If not wound after 48 hours, your watch may appear to be “dead.” To get it functioning again, unscrew the crown to position 2 and wind it about 30-40 times. Then screw the crown back down in place. It’s important to note, you should avoid winding the watch while wearing it.

Servicing Your Rolex
