Many people refer to New York City as “The Big Apple.”
However, have you ever thought about how that name came to be?
One rumor has it that NYC began being called the Big Apple
during the depression. Many former financers would travel from NYC to the
suburbs in suits to sell apples on the streets of New York! Many families who
were well off before the depression, resorted to selling apple to “make ends
meet” when the depression was in full effect. Many New Yorkers began referring
to this as the “Big Apple” scam! What do you think about this? Do you think that’s
how the name came to be?
